Privacy policy

We are a small independent shop in Ayr, so this is written in plain English rather than thirty pages of legal filler. It explains what we collect, why, and what you can tell us to do about it.

01Who is responsible for your data

Fone Xperts is the data controller for anything you send us through this website, by email or over the counter. We are registered in Scotland, company number SC603228, and you can write to us at 172 High Street, Ayr, Scotland, KA7 1PZ.

If you have a question about privacy, email info@fonexperts.co.uk and it will land with the person who actually deals with it.

02What we collect when you order

To send you anything we need your name, a delivery address, an email address and a phone number the courier can reach you on. That is the whole list.

We pass those details to our delivery partner so your parcel can arrive, and we keep a record of what you bought so we can sort out a warranty claim eighteen months later without asking you to dig out a receipt. We do not collect anything we cannot give you a reason for.

03Card payments

We never see your full card number and we never store it. Card payments are handled by our payment provider, and what comes back to us is a confirmation, the last four digits and a transaction reference.

If you pay at the counter, the card machine deals with your details under its own provider’s terms. We only keep the receipt.

04Cookies, storage and analytics

This site uses a handful of cookies and your browser’s local storage. Two of them do the useful work: one remembers your basket, and one remembers your filter and sort choices so the page does not reset every time you refresh. A third keeps you signed in if you use the account area.

We also run privacy-friendly analytics so we can see which pages people actually read. The numbers come back to us grouped together, so we cannot look at a report and work out that it was you who spent ten minutes on the Galaxy S24 Ultra page. Clearing your cookies through your browser settings will remove all of it, though your basket will empty when you do.

05Who else sees your information

We share the minimum necessary with a short list of companies:

  • Our delivery partners, who need your name, address and phone number to complete the delivery.
  • Our payment provider, which processes the card transaction.
  • Our email provider, which stores order confirmations and your replies to us.
  • Our accountant, and HMRC if they ask. Both are legal obligations rather than something we choose to do.

06How long we keep things

Order records stay on file for six years. HMRC expects business records to be kept that long, and warranty claims have a habit of turning up in year three.

Messages you send us through the contact form or by email are deleted once the query is closed, or after two years if the conversation goes quiet. Marketing emails are kept until you unsubscribe.

07Marketing

We only email you offers if you asked us to. Every one of those emails has a working one-click unsubscribe link — no “please allow 28 days for removal”.

If you have bought from us before, we may occasionally send you something we think is relevant under the soft opt-in rules. Tell us to stop and we will stop.

08Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to the way we are using it. There is normally no charge, and we have one month to respond.

The quickest way in is an email to info@fonexperts.co.uk with “data request” in the subject line. We may ask you a couple of questions first to check you are who you say you are. That is not us being difficult — it is so we do not hand your details to somebody else.

09How we keep it safe

Access to order systems is limited to the people who need it, devices are password protected, and two-factor authentication is switched on wherever it is offered.

No system is flawless. If something did go wrong and your information was affected, we would tell you directly and report it to the Information Commissioner’s Office within 72 hours, as the law requires.

10If you want to complain

Tell us first. We would much rather fix a problem than have it escalate. If you are still unhappy, you can raise it with the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

11Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and move the date at the top. It was last reviewed on 5 October 2026.
