Apple AirPods Max

Overview

Why this one is worth it

AirPods Max are the pair we hand over when someone says the noise cancelling on their current headphones is not good enough on a train. Each ear cup carries its own H1 chip, so the adaptive ANC reads both the fit and the outside world continuously, and Transparency drops the room back in without you taking them off. The 40mm drivers sit in anodised aluminium cups rather than plastic, which is a large part of why they sound this open, and spatial audio with head tracking genuinely changes how a film lands. The knit mesh canopy spreads the weight across the top of your head, which is the difference between wearing them for an hour and wearing them all afternoon.
